Whilst it’s true that this year has been one that we’re not likely to forget in a hurry – although many would certainly love to do just that – it’s also been a year of learning, growing and connecting. On a level that most of us have never experienced before, both personally and professionally.

Face-to-face meetings became a thing of the past and networking, well, what even is that anymore?! At first, we excitedly embraced technology. We revelled in the ability to see colleagues and friends via video conference facilities. Even our grannies mastered FaceTime. We were so proud! But then, as weeks turned into months, fatigue well and truly set in. We’re sure we’re not alone when we say we felt ‘zoomed out’ at times. The joys of a good old-fashioned telephone call should not be underestimated as it turns out! And now, we think we’ve finally found some balance.

And that’s one thing that we’re definitely taking into 2021 – a new way of working, certainly. The ability to be more efficient at times, but still keeping that oh-so-important personal touch. We can’t wait to see old friends, client and colleagues – often all one and the same! But the way we all do business has changed and you know what, perhaps that can be a good thing. Perhaps we can have the best of both worlds after all.

Inspiration in the face of adversity

People’s resilience was well and truly tested but look what happened. Pivoting, innovation and collaboration. Individuals and businesses stepped into the void to provide not just products and services, but insight, advice and much needed entertainment too. Those who could, made us all proud by forging ahead and those who could not went above and beyond to support their franchisees and their teams. We had the pleasure of working with businesses at both ends of the scale and the determination, positivity and pragmatism shown by all is something to be celebrated. In fact, we used all of it as the inspiration and motivation which helped us to grow our own business. If this year has taught us anything, it’s to never give up, stay positive and look for ways to leverage a win out of every situation.  That can certainly come into a new decade with us!

Simple acts of kindness

Kindness and generosity came out to bat for all of us in spades. And not just in a ‘Major Tom’, ‘clap for care workers’ way either – even though all that stuff was amazing. The smallest acts often made the biggest difference and Team Rev were proud and honoured to support our clients, our industry and each other through this difficult time. The acts of love and support – be they financial, operational or moral – that we witnessed and had the pleasure to share with the media are, in part, what helped to keep us going strong. We saw the franchise industry and our business communities rally together and prove that we are all, in fact, stronger together. In business, and in our personal lives (just in general as human beings really) we’re all pledging to keep that kindness and understanding going into 2021 and beyond.

So, yes, it’s been a bit of a sh*tter. But there’s been so much good to take from this too. Well done to everyone for making it to the end of year, however you managed it. We’re looking forward to a positive and prosperous new year and we can’t wait to see you all on the other side.

Team Rev xx
